Original Title: Update failed side-by-side configuration is incorrect.
Sep 25, 2014 - Page 1 of 2 - Download With Manager Error - posted in Mod. [D] Failed to request file info from nexus: Error downloading nmm. Unable to get write permissions for: C: Games Nexus Mod Manager Skyrim Install Info This would also be just like running code as root on linux/mac. The correct remedy for this would be to grant yourself write permissions to 'Games' and all sub-folders (including files) -- also you would want to take ownership of the folders.
UPDATE
I downloaded a new install file. I put it on the desktop. I did a shutdown and restart of computer. In Task Manager I shut down all Carbonite processes. I disabled all shields in avast antivirus. I disables PC Tools firewall and enabled Windows Firewall. Ran the new download of IE9-WindowsVista-x86-enu.exe. It installed IE9. It did say some IE files or processes were running and had to shut down my computer to complete the install. I did not run IE8 or firefox before I did the install. Why were there IE files or processes were running when I ran IE9-WindowsVista-x86-enu.exe? I suppose it does not matter since IE9 seemed to install successfully.

I attempted to upgrade from IE8 to IE9 by installing:
IE9-WindowsVista-x86-enu.exe
I “run as administrator” in a user account and I get “The application has failed because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect”. What do I do to upgrade to IE9?
I use the IE update advice explained here.

I searched for info on this and I get posts by people who did a lot of advanced stuff on windows and did not know what they are doing getting this type of error. I do no such things. I keep my maintenance and configuration on vista as simple as I can.
I booted up to administrator account and ran IE9-WindowsVista-x86-enu.exe. I got the same side by side error.
How do I upgrade from IE8 to IE9?
